Sociable Hounds has grown organically through word of mouth and we put that down to our amazing team. We pride ourselves on our friendly, reliable and flexible service, and most importantly our genuine love of dogs.

Favourite breed: Having grown up with golden retrievers, I definitely have a huge soft spot for them! However, one of the best things about this job is getting to know so many other lovely breeds.

Interesting fact: I studied chemistry, politics and psychology at university before graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. After struggling to find a daycare where our golden retriever Bailey could spend his day running and exploring new walks and smells with his friends, I came up with the idea of Sociable Hounds.

I spent over a year working with large groups of dogs, learning about their behaviour and pack dynamics. I also completed courses in canine first aid, pet nutrition and animal psychology, before opening Sociable Hounds in 2016.

What do you love most about your job? People are always saying to me “you have the best job ever” – and I really do! What I love most is getting to know the dog’s unique personalities and watching them have fun with their friends. Also seeing how excited all the dogs get when you pick them up for their walks is the best way to start the day!

Favourite breed: Golden Retriever

Interesting fact: I worked for the John Lewis Partnership for 33 years before helping to create Sociable Hounds.

What do you love most about your job? There is no other job where you can walk all day, explore the beautiful walks Edinburgh has to offer, and spend your day with such brilliant dogs and a great team!

Favourite breed: It’s difficult to choose just one, but I love Spaniels, Cockapoos and Labradors.

Interesting fact: I worked for Lothian and Borders Police for over 25 years.

What do you love most about your job? I love being outside in the fresh air, whilst findings loads of different walks with the dogs. It also keeps you fit!
